      There’s no bone in that area of the jaw – there doesn’t need to be because it isn’t facing outwards so it is unlikely to be injured. It also provides a nice flat region for growing a goatie beard.

      There is no bone there because there is no need for structure….a bit like your ear lobes. They are soft and squidgy too.
