      Hi lasagnegirl,

      Sorry to hear that. However my work IS about helping the environment. The reason new planes need protecting against lightning is because we are trying to stop making them out of metal.

      The reason for this is that metal is heavy and so uses more fuel which is bad for the environment.

      So we ARE helping the environment by making lighter planes – my part in this is to make sure that these lighter planes are ok when hit by lightning (as metal planes don’t get damaged anyway).

      Does that all make sense?
