• Question: What's better, Macintosh or PC's? (I think Macintosh because it's much faster and more reliable).

The machines are basically the same underneath, but the Mac operating system and the PC operating system (i.e. Windows) are very different. Most computer scientists don’t like either of them, and prefer Unix or linux instead. An operating system is just a computer program, and you can imagine it as the clothes that your PC wears. The Mac clothes are a bit hippyish, but quite attractive, easy to move around in, and hard-wearing. Windows is like an after-dinner suit, fraying at the edges with some buttons torn off, and the trousers keep falling down. Unix/Linux, on the other hand, is just a pair of swimming trunks, and it lets the programmer get right to all the important bits with nothing in the way.
