If there is a nuclear war, not long! If we somehow learn to get along with each other, it will last until the sun turns into a red-giant and engulfs the earth in about 4-5 billion years. Better to leave before then. Hopefully there will be some nice holiday homes in the Andromeda galaxy by then, and a new version of the Ford Mondeo that can travel near light speed so we can get there in time.
Beause David that is what everyone is talking about and the news has said it…. people just wanna know if it’s true or not i guess… or maybe they are actually asking when the sun will get to big and hot then implode making the red star or the red giant or whatever it’s called. but that wont happen for billions of years…. lmao well that’s what the internet says…. about 2 billions years atleast. but i’m no scientist so i don’t know…. :/
thanks 07martindev and skittles for the response. OK, if ever something on the media worries you, get in touch with a scientist and find out the truth!
There is really nothing for you to worry about – no scientist thinks the world is going to end in 2012. The media only says so because the Mayan calendar finishes in 2012, and it makes a fun ‘filler’ news story when there is nothing more important going on. Just because some extinct Mexican tribe’s calendar finishes, doesn’t mean it’s true! That sort of thing is not evidence, which is what science is based upon. Throughout history, people have believed all sorts of bizarre nonsense, so why focus on the Mayans? It’s no more likely than Daleks will invading Scotland in 2012.
