David Corne answered on 21 Jun 2011:
Scratch yourself — well done, you’ve just made some dust!
Rhys Phillips answered on 22 Jun 2011:
It’s dead skin from our bodies – nice eh!
Helen Fletcher answered on 22 Jun 2011:
It comes from lots of other things too! The soil, pollution, pollen (and even the faeces of the dust mites that feast on the dust!) – it’s basically just a term for any particles hanging around in the air or settled on surfaces.
Ian van der Linde answered on 22 Jun 2011:
It is formed as part of a natural process that occurs when people forget to use a duster. Plus what the other scientists said!
