Hi, the morning after pill prevents the egg from being released and fertilized. It doesn’t get rid of the baby, it just prevents you from getting pregnant. In the early months of pregnancy you can induce abortion with a pill or combination of pills. Progesterone is essential for maintaining the foetus when it’s in the very early “blast” form. If you block progesterone the cells stop dividing and begin to break-down so the pills work by blocking progesterone, softening the cervix and making the uterus sensitive to contractions (so you have a period).

It doesn’t really get rid of the baby, it prevents it from becoming a baby in the first place.
