I do experiments in which I ask volunteers to do a task, like searching for something, remembering a set of things, or distinguishes between similar things. From the way they respond, their eye movements and other physiological measurements, and the way I have configured the task, I can deduce how they are doing the task and build mathematical models that fit how the volunteers performed.
