There are 4 types of light sensitive cell in the eye. Of these, 3 of them are used for colour – they are tuned (roughly) to detect red, green and blue light. By comparing how much they are stimulated, we get the sensation of colour. Look closely at your LCD TV screen or Laptop – you’ll notice that each pixel’s colour is generated by mixing together light from little red, green and blue emitters too!
