• Question: has anyone die whilst doing your experiments

      No – I try to keep them alive so that they’ll come back again in the future! Getting volunteers to do experiments isn’t easy, so I wouldn’t want to lose them!

      It gives approximate real-time numbers for things like births and deaths across the whole planet, and various other things. Looking at the rate of deaths, I would guess that around 2500 people die during a typical one of my experiments. Of course, none of these is actually CAUSED by my experiment!!

      Not in our lab, but I have heard of lab workers killed while using liquid nitrogen. We use it to freeze down blood cells and we have to wear oxygen monitors when we go into the liquid nitrogen room!

      Nope – we don’t let people go in the planes when we do the lightning tests!
