• Question: Do you think that in the future there would be a new way of cooking food that would still be safe but also fast? How do you think this could be done?

Microwave Ovens already do this! Despite what you may hear, food cooked with a Microwave is perfectly safe! Having said that, it’s much healthier to cook your own food from scratch. That way, at least you know what’s in it!

You don’t want fast food really — much of the enjoyment with food is waiting for it to be ready

We can already do this with microwaves. But food tastes much better cooked properly!

Cooking food is basically just a way of denaturing proteins and fibre and making it easier to digest. So any process that does this will ‘cook’ food, for example putting it in a highly acidic or basic solution. This wouldn’t be safe to eat, however, as it would do serious damage to your insides and burn your tongue on the way down.
It is possible to fry an egg in liquid nitrogen (which is at -190degrees C).
